The Fast-Track ARSM Teaching Diploma Course
We are delighted to be able to offer our Cert PTC alumni students an opportunity to prepare for an ARSM Teaching Diploma with us. The next available course begins in September 2026. Please contact us if you would like more information.

Our Fast-Track ARSM Teaching Diploma course is an additional and optional qualification that Cert PTC graduates can do following completion of the Cert PTC. We recommend doing this course in the term following your Cert PTC graduation in order to consolidate your learning. The course is open to recent Cert PTC graduates and subject to demand will run once or twice a year .
At the PTC UK our expertise is in designing courses specifically for piano teachers. We have been training and equipping teachers since 2007 and all our tutors are piano teachers. Our Fast-Track ARSM Teaching Diploma course is for piano teachers who wish to add to their qualifications and undertake the external ARSM Teaching Diploma having already completed a Cert PTC course with us..
This course will fully prepare you for the external examination, including an opportunity to receive guidance and feedback from an examiner and an opportunity to do a mock examination. The course takes place within one academic term and includes a residential course at The Purcell School of Music in Bushey as well as single days in person or online. You may undertake the course entirely online if you wish.

How the course is structured
The Fast-Track ARSM Teaching Diploma Course takes place over three months from September to November. Course days are a flexible, hybrid combination of in-person sessions and on-line study days with additional individual tutorial time between students and the course tutor for online-only students. Residential days normally take place during UK school holidays, although it should be noted not all UK regions have the same holidays. The timetable varies from year to year but normally follows a similar pattern.
If applying as an online participant, all dates below can be attended virtually or you may watch recordings of the sessions later on. If applying to attend in person with single days online, please note that residential days take place at The Purcell School of Music in Bushey. Click here for more information.
Minimum Requirements
In order to take this course, you need:

to be aged 18 or over.
-
to have already completed The Cert PTC.
-
to have achieved grade 8 piano or above with a recognised UK exam board or an equivalent overseas institution.

Course Content
The sole focus of the Fast-Track ARSM Teaching Diploma course is to assist Cert PTC graduates to prepare their entry for the ARSM Teaching Diploma. This is a level four teaching qualification.
Under the guidance of the tutors you will prepare the work to be submitted for Unit One A: Music Teaching in Practice, based around a lesson video and Unit One B: Music Teaching in Context, a series of short written submissions. Unit Two: Reflective Practice and Professional Values, takes the form of a professional discussion with the examiner. Preparation for this will be ongoing throughout the course days and there is also the opportunity to receive a mock exam and guidance from an examiner.
