

Workshops for Piano Teachers
These workshops are suitable for all teachers, whether just starting out or with years of experience. If you are looking for renewed inspiration or hoping for an energising refresher for your lessons, these one-day events will leave you feeling invigorated and give you dozens of new ideas for lessons.

CPD workshops take place at The Purcell School of Music in Bushey and cost £162 for in person attendance, including lunch or £80 for online attendance. Discounts are available for alumni and members of associated companies. Please email ceri@pianoteachers.co.uk for more information.

Overnight accommodation with dinner bed and breakfast is available on request at an extra cost of £50.

Preparing for Performance On Wednesday 18th February 2026
A timetable will be available soon but the day will begin at approximately 9:15am and end at 6pm. There will be mid-morning and mid-afternoon tea/coffee breaks with cake/biscuits and a two-course lunch in the middle of the day. You may purchase a lunch ticket at the time of your booking for £12.
Understanding and Releasing Performance Anxiety with Joanna Garcia
This thought-provoking and practical workshop includes advice about:

Understanding what performance anxiety actually is: naming it (and so separating ourselves from it)

Understanding the autonomic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system and investigating ways to work with both

About the Lecturers
Joanna Garcia

​
Joanna is a principal tutor on The Piano Teachers' Course UK. She joined the team in 2025. She holds a First Class Bachelor of Music degree from Manchester University and a postgraduate diploma and the prestigious PPRNCM from the Royal Northern College of Music. Following her Junior Fellowship, she became staff pianist at the RNCM and at Chetham’s School of Music before spending several years in primary and secondary education as a teacher and deputy head. Joanna is now director of the Joanna García Piano School, and has a particular interest in teaching piano teachers and adults who are striving to overcome performance anxieties. She is also an adjudicator, a collaborative pianist, an avid content creator, Vocal Director at the EYSM, and a freelance staff pianist at the RNCM.
Graham Fitch

Graham Fitch maintains an international reputation as a pianist, teacher, workshop leader and writer. Graham is a regular writer for Pianist Magazine, and has many video demonstrations on the magazine’s YouTube channel. Graham runs a busy private practice in London, and counts among his long-term students Daniel Grimwood, James Baillieu, and Gemma Webster - with many others active in the profession. In addition to teaching talented youngsters and working with professional pianists and piano teachers, Graham is very interested in helping amateur pianists develop their playing.

Graham is a guest tutor on The Piano Teachers’ Course UK and is also a tutor at the Summer School for Pianists at Stowe, and gives sell-out courses at Finchcocks throughout the year, as well as courses in Blonay, Switzerland, three times a year. Graham has published an ebook series based on his popular blog, www.practisingthepiano.com, and curates a considerable library of written and video content by himself and other contributors on his website, the Online Academy. He is presently co-authoring two chapters for the upcoming Oxford Handbook of Piano Pedagogy.

Roberta Wolff
Roberta Wolff is a pianist, educator, coach, and speaker whose work bridges performance, teaching, leadership, and professional development. She is the module leader for the PGCert in Performance Teaching at Guildhall School and she mentors staff through the Catalyst programme. As a freelancer, Roberta supports musicians and educators in deepening artistic confidence, refining facilitation skills, and strengthening professional identity. Her approach is grounded in reflective practice and attuned to the subtle, relational dimensions of teaching and learning. She delivers sector-wide workshops, and offers coaching and mentoring for instrumental teachers, portfolio professionals, and education leaders. Across all her work, she offers a thoughtful, research-informed approach grounded in a deep understanding of the personal and professional dimensions of a life in music.
Andrew Eales
Andrew Eales is one of the UK’s leading piano educators, with over thirty years’ experience running a successful teaching practice in Milton Keynes. He works with students of all ages and levels, from beginners to diploma candidates. He is a published composer, with works featured in ABRSM and LCM syllabuses, and the author of How to Practise Music, published worldwide by Hal Leonard, for whom he has also compiled several piano anthologies, including The Joy of Graded Piano series. His piano education website Pianodao is widely appreciated, with many thousands of subscribers from all around the world.
Kris Worsley
As well as being a principal tutor here at The Piano Teachers’ Course, UK Dr Kris Worsley is a pianist, scholar and teacher with specialisms in musicianship and ear training, as well as European music from the late 17th to early 19th centuries and historical performance practice. Kris has taught and lectured extensively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, but has always maintained a core practice working with children, including those with additional needs and from disadvantaged backgrounds. He teaches at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Royal Northern College of Music.
