Welcome to The Piano Teachers’ Course UK Ltd

PTC UK is specifically for pianists and piano teachers who wish to enhance their professional teaching skills, come together for inspiration and become part of a motivated & supportive musical network.

Focused around the main course dates, PTC offers a range of additional workshops and sessions for both PTC Alumni and any interested pianists,  piano teachers and students.

THE PTC UK COURSES

The Cert PTC

A 15 day part-time course running from September 2018 through to the following June, comprising a comprehensive programme of lectures, workshops and seminars; tutor groups, independent study and practice; written & video assignments – and concerts. It culminates in the Cert PTC if all elements have been fulfilled and the pass mark achieved.

The Dip PTC

A higher level of Cert PTC awarded to students who have demonstrated high levels of excellence with their work.

The Certificate of Professional Development

The same 15 day course, but without the written assignments. For those who already have high level qualifications, or who simply do not wish to undertake the written work.

The ABRSM CME

The Certificate for Music Educators. This add-on qualification works in greater depth, with the focus on evidence based learning. Running parallel with the Cert PTC from October 2018 through to the following autumn. Ideally taken at the same time as the Cert PTC, but can be spread over two years. The qualification is on a par with a PGCE.

The Teaching DipABRSM & LRSM

A full course for the practical elements of the qualification, including Grade 6 theory – and for the written submission if not a PTC graduate. The dates correspond with the PTC 2018-19 course dates.

CPD Workshops, Teachers’ Discussion Forums and Private Lessons

In response to demand, PTC’s new programme of independent lectures, workshops and teachers’ discussion forums – open to any interested pianists, piano teachers and students.
From October, on the same dates as seven of the PTC 2018-19 course days, presenting a wide range of sessions – including the option for private consultations and lessons.
Tutors will be a combination of the PTC Principal Tutors and guest presenters.

2019 Open Days

Available on 6 course days in spring 2019, providing the opportunity to come and observe – for those potentially interested in enrolling on PTC 2019-20 or anyone wanting a refresher of the PTC syllabus.

Tutored by Course Director Lucinda Mackworth-Young and her dynamic team of tutors at the top of their game, The PTC provides excellent preparation for all Piano Teaching Diplomas through exposure to the latest in piano teaching pedagogy.
